Following the stealthy launch of “Feather” last week, OpenAI has quietly rolled out a new ChatGPT feature called ‘Read Aloud‘ has been quietly rolling out to a select group of users on both mobile and desktop versions, with no official announcement from OpenAI. This innovative addition allows users to listen to the AI’s responses being read out loud in a synthetic voice.

What sets ‘Read Aloud’ apart is its ability to bring ChatGPT’s responses to life through an AI-generated voice. The new feature, which requires ChatGPT Plus, adds a new dimension to interactions with the AI, making conversations more engaging and accessible. As of now, the rollout of this feature appears to be in its early stages, with only a select group of users currently gaining access to it.

Users have the flexibility to customize their experience by selecting from a range of voices in the settings menu. Currently, there are five options available: Ember, Breeze, Cove, Juniper, and Sky. This personalization enhances the user experience, catering to individual preferences and needs.

Read Aloud also enables voice customization. Users are presented with a choice of five distinct AI-generated voices for the “Read Aloud” function. Options include names like Ember, Breeze, and Cove, offering a personalized touch to the user experience.

While specifics remain undisclosed, an official announcement regarding the broader availability of the feature is on the horizon. Industry insiders speculate that a wider release may be imminent, marking a significant step forward in ChatGPT’s evolution.
